Volunteer Opportunities- Trap Clean Up

State waters from Wakulla to Hernando Counties are closed to blue crab harvest using standard traps from July 20-29, 2017. This closure occurs every odd year and is meant to help with removal of lost or derelict fishing gear. Derelict fishing gear can cause harm in several ways, including "ghost fishing", creating navigational hazards, and becoming eyesores. If you want to help remove lost or derelict traps during this closed period, see: http://myfwc.com/f…/saltwater/trap-debris/volunteer-program/to obtain a permit and more information.
